About Us
South Australia Tamil School is a community-driven initiative run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Founded on 2012, the school began with a heartfelt mission—to teach the Tamil language, preserve the richness of Tamil culture, and provide a strong sense of community for Tamil families living in South Australia. What started as a small group with passionate volunteer teachers has now grown into a respected institution supported by the Adelaide Tamil Association and strengthened by the continued involvement of parents, educators, and volunteers.
Today, the school proudly teaches around 100 children across two campuses—Torrensville Primary School and Hallett Cove. Students living in the southern suburbs of Adelaide are encouraged to join our Hallett Cove Tamil School for convenient access. Every year, our student numbers continue to grow as families recognise the importance of passing their mother tongue to the next generation. Along with teaching Tamil reading, writing, and speaking, we are committed to nurturing the overall growth of every child. Students are encouraged to explore their talents in art, dance, sports, leadership, and cultural activities, fostering confidence and creativity in a supportive environment.
In addition to language and cultural education, SATS also supports senior students in achieving SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2 Tamil, which contributes towards the South Australian Certificate of Education and helps students progress confidently toward higher studies. (More information: sace.sa.edu.au)
